Glastonbury The Play - Zoe Lewis with Keith Allen and Damien Hurst

Glastonbury – Written by Zoe Lewis
October 12th – November 12th 2002 UK Tour
Cardiff, Birmingham and Brighton

Directed by Keith Allen
Set designed by Damien Hirst

Glastonbury toured in a big top tent that seated 500 and recreated the entire festival experience from mud to smelly loos and famous DJ’s. UB40 opened the show in Birmingham and Alabama Three in Cardiff with DJ sets from Bez and DJ Lottie.

Glastonbury the play unites Fred and Marie, two star crossed lovers on the way to the greatest festival on earth, and then unkindly tears them apart as Marie gets lost and spends the rest of the festival trying to find her new love. Neither Fred (A crusty) nor Marie have mobile phones, unlike Babe and Champion, the ultimate model/pr man couple, who spend the entire time trying to lose each other. Both couples end up swapping partners and this spend the weekend losing each other but finding themselves, but there is one character, builder Nevin, who has it in for the “happy clappy hippies, and has Fred in his sights. Will the weekend end in tragedy?

Glastonbury was taken in to development with Old Vic Theatre and also optioned by Working Title Films.
